Water in the South of North Port has gone out with the tide. This shift has allowed a little bit of water to drain out of the Myakka River, Big Slough Canal, and Coco Plum Waterway. Now that the tide is coming back in, it is a race against the clock to relieve as much water from an already overtaxed drainage system. Any relief gained could help create a buffer that helps manage water relief efforts over the coming weeks.

As the waters recede the damage is clearly catastrophic. Most people have lost everything, some more.
